A seasoned team,
solving the tough

President, North America

Client: The Chairman of a leading, private equity–backed, European-based biopharmaceutical company, acting in anticipation of a pending acquisition.

Challenge: Recruit a President to manage the company's newly established North American business and work with its European leadership team to develop a global strategy to drive top- and bottom-line results, build a strong organization, and support the Board's mission.

Outcome: Completed this highly successful search in record time, action that included coordination with a global search team. The President we placed has become a benchmark for subsequent search assignments within this company.

Biopharmaceutical Joint Venture

Client: The Board of a newly formed joint venture between two market-leaders, both European-based Life Science companies, publicly owned.

Challenge: To attract a CEO with a proven record of performance in a highly specialized area. Hitting the ground running, the new CEO would need to work with the Board in selecting the right location for the company's U.S. headquarters and build a research team to support the commercialization of its novel biopharmaceutical technology.

Outcome: In completing this search faster than requested or anticipated, we succeeded in persuading an outstanding candidate that the rewards of this venture outweighed any risks. The new CEO we placed quickly recommended to the Board a Boston-based headquarters that would support building a 75-person organization within six months. Under the CEO's leadership, the joint venture has since commercialized the firm's innovative technology and is currently working to scale the business and global footprint.

Industrial Electronics
President, North America

Client: A European-based, publicly traded company. Well established and innovative. High growth and historically successful.

Challenge: With a solid top- and bottom-line corporate performance and a record of accomplishment for growing well ahead of its market, this organization sought a proven executive capable of turning around its North American-based business, an industrial equipment manufacturer whose sales were stagnant, dramatically lagging behind the market as well as behind company-owned businesses located outside North America.

Outcome: In his first six months, the President we recruited reinvigorated the North American operation and implemented a strategy that included two acquisitions to expand the company's portfolio, not only growing revenues in an exceedingly challenging market but increasing profitability as well.

Industrial Materials
President and CEO

Client: A Board of Directors and Chief Restructuring Officer.

Challenge: To recruit a President and CEO to lead the turnaround of an old-line industrial fibers business. The company was in Chapter 11 due to debt issues. A lack of leadership, vision, and strategy had hastened the company's decline.

Outcome: We recruited the new President and CEO from a major global competitor managing a significantly larger P&L. Immediately following the company's exit from Chapter 11, the new CEO quickly built credibility within the organization and with customers and the Board while developing a successful strategy to maximize cash flow and shareholder value. Focusing on value creation, we subsequently worked with this CEO to rebuild his leadership team, which collectively doubled EBITDA within two years. This success allowed the Board to sell the company to a leading private equity firm for a substantial increase in value, two years earlier than planned.
